【摘要】:4.1Indicatorsmaybeusedtoshowthatproductshavebeenexposedtoaradiationsource.Theyshouldbeusedonlytoprovideaqualitativeindicationofradiationexposureandmaybeusedtodistinguishprocessedloadsthathavebeenirradiatedfromunirradiatedprocessloads.NOTE1-Theuseofindicatorsdoesnoteliminatetheneedforotherprocess-controlprocedures,suchasquantitativedosimetryorthecontrolledsegregationofirradiatedfromnonirradiatedproducts.NOTE2-SeeISO/ASTMStandards51204,51431,51608,51649,51702,51939,and51940forinformationontheuseofindicatorsinthevarioustypesofprocessingfacilitiesandforuniqueproductapplications.4.2Theindicatormanufacturerisobligedtosupplyastatementregardingtheapproximatedoselevelatwhichtheexaminer(20/20vision),atstandardillumination(unfiltereddaylight,orartificiallightofthespectrumandintensitydefinedbytheproperASTMstandard),isabletodeterminethevisualchangeintheindicator.1.1Thisguidecoversproceduresforusingradiation-sensitiveindicators(referredtohereafterasindicators)inradiationprocessing.Theseindicatorsmaybelabels,papers,inksorpackagingmaterialswhichundergoavisualchangewhenexposedtoionizingradiation1-5).1.2Thepurposeforusingindicatorsistodeterminevisuallywhetherornotaproducthasbeenirradiated,ratherthantomeasuredifferentdoselevels.1.3Indicatorsarenotdosimetersandshallnotbeusedasasubstituteforproperdosimetry.InformationaboutdosimetrysystemsforradiationprocessingisprovidedinotherASTMandISO/ASTMdocuments(seeISO/ASTMGuide51261).1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
